Meet Alex

Founder

Hey! I’m Alex.

My path with sound healing began in 2019 when I bought my first gong and playing it daily transformed my life. I had been working in the entertainment industry for 6 years helping actors book work as a talent agent, but it was time for a change. I felt patterns rewiring as I deepened with the gong, and I knew I had to share vibration with the world.

In 2020 I founded Secret River Sounds, and ever since I’ve been facilitating sound baths to help people on their journey. Working in the healing arts have given me so much purpose and is incredibly rewarding. My mission is to help you do the same.

Who is this training for?

  • Anyone who wants to learn how to play gongs and use them in a therapeutic setting.

  • Anyone interested in blending together sound experiences with drums, rainsticks, singing bowls, rattles, crystal harps and more.

  • Yoga teachers, meditation teachers, therapists, coaches, breathwork facilitators, massage therapists, studio owners and artists who want to integrate vibrational sound with their offerings both in a one on one setting and for groups.

  • Individuals seeking a path of self employment, entrepreneurship and an eventual exit from a 9 to 5.

  • Those who seek to express themselves creatively all while living a life of service.

Diving into the course

  • This week is where we dive into the basics of sound healing and terminology to understand how it works. We’ll also be going over all of the instruments I use, discussing the best places to source your instruments and which tools to invest in to start your business. We’ll also take this time to do group introductions so all students are familiar with each other as we learn together.

By the end of Week 1 you’ll have the knowledge to speak about sound as modality, be clear on what you’re offering, have confidence in sourcing high quality instruments for your business and you’ll be familiar with the members of our training.

  • During Week 2 I’ll show you exactly how I do my unique live sound bath. You’ll be guided through the process from start to finish: From the introductory spiel I give to the closing as the event concludes. You’ll see step by step each stage of how I conduct my events, play the instruments, blend sounds together and the thought process behind it all.

By the end of Week 2, you’ll have a clear template for conducting amazing group sound bath experiences and you’ll be positioned to begin practicing guiding your own with the freedom to explore, experiment and have a profound impact on those who experience your offering.

  • During Week 3 you’ll learn how to conduct 1 on 1 sound therapy sessions with your clients. You’ll learn about techniques for using metal singing bowls on the body, doing 1 on 1 gong therapy sessions with just a gong, using other instruments like drums and rainsticks in individual settings, and blending them all together to get creative and provide a one of a kind sound therapy experience. We’ll also be discussing preparing the space for the session and extra tips and tricks to create an environment of transformation and value for your clients

By the end of Week 3 you’ll be positioned to provide a 1 on 1 sound experience that is safe, ethical, therapeutic and deeply meaningful for your clients. You’ll know how to describe your offering, you’ll understand contraindications and you’ll be ready to practice providing this experience for the course homework.

  • Week 4 is when when you’ll receive individualized review and constructive critique of the group and individual sound sessions you’ll have conducted thus far while doing the course homework. You’ll have expert eyes on your work so that you get helpful feedback and tips that will give you confidence in your sound offering. Your homework videos will be shared with the whole group, and the reviews will be too, thus creating an environment of collaborative input and the ability to learn from each other all while having fun.

By the end of Week 4 you’ll have received affirming individualized feedback regarding your practice group sound bath and 1 on 1 sound therapy offerings. You’ll know concepts you can replicate for success as well as areas you can improve, and you’ll have access to see how others in our course are conducting their work.

FAQs

  • It’s my pleasure to guide you on your journey to selecting the right instruments for you! My approach to sound is centered around gongs, so gong technique is a big part of what I teach and the foundation of my personal set. However, alternatives are an option. We’ll be going over all the instruments I use and I’ll provide information on sourcing your instruments. Part of the course homework will include conducting an event with your instruments, so you will want to invest in some equipment once the training begins. We can hop on a discovery call before the training to discuss what this looks like for you.

  • Crystal bowls are beautiful and I love them! The main focus in this course is gongs and gong technique. In my regular set I use a crystal harp instead of bowls; however, there will be a video module that includes crystal bowls, how to play them, how to incorporate them with other instruments, mallet techniques and the best place to get your bowls.

  • The video modules will be provided to you on a weekly basis, and you can watch them at your own pace. We will also have 6 live zoom calls for discussion and Q&A. Attendance for the live zoom calls is generally required, but up to 2 of the sessions can be missed and you can view the recording later.

  • Absolutely! I had zero experience when I bought my first gong years ago. I’d never played a crystal harp or a drum. I had a limited musical background. Complete beginners are totally welcome here. In fact, you do not need any musical experience or to be a musician to take or benefit from this course. It’s specifically about using vibration in a therapeutic, relaxing nature. This is not a musical course.

  • Yes! This course goes over some basics, but it’s also a guide to expansion of your sound healing career. You may learn to incorporate new instruments you aren’t using yet or new techniques on instruments you already own. Beyond that, we’ll be discussing high quality client acquisition, how to build out retreats, templates for introducing yourself and your brand, newsletters, which software to use, collaboration with other facilitators and more. This is a great opportunity to expand your business if you’ve already started.

Registration closes June 1st.
